We're Kingsley Inn, and we have been proudly offering our guests a relaxing and comfortable hotel stay since 1990. Located in Southeast Iowa on the Mississippi River, where barges pass by, we are rich in history and strive to keep that alive. Our hotel has stood here since the 1860s! We were on a trip back from Branson MO and wanted to stop at this hotel because of the busy train line in front of the hotel. I can spen hours watching trains and this room did not dissapoint. We stayed in room 203 because being 6'7" tall I need a king size bed and I was glad to see they offered one on the river view side of the hotel. Such a wonderful place for the train enthusiasts. There is a kitchen right down the hall if you like to bring your own meals. The staff was great and I am sure lonely since being an off season, there were only a couple of rooms occupied. Trains went by 24/7 but don't worry the room has a sound machine and they will provide ear plugs if needed. It's a must stop for anyone that loves to watch trains.

My wife and I stayed here for our anniversary. We really enjoyed the hotel! The history is charming. We had a beautiful fall view of the Mississippi. The staff were all super friendly and there was a lot to do within walking distance. I booked a room facing the river and underestimated how many trains would come through the station. If you are a little noise sensitive I’d suggest a courtyard room. It might be a little quieter. (If the giant fans from the building next door aren’t running) But we weren’t as bothered by the trains as we initially thought we would. We loved Fort Madison and will definitely be coming back again.
